AVIAREPS enters Thai travel market

AVIAREPS, a tourism, aviation and hospitality trade representatiive, has opened a branch office Bangkok.
Located on Ploenchit Road, in downtown Bangkok, the office is the 52nd offices in a network that covers 42 countries.
AVIAREPS Group chairman and CEO, Michael Gaebler, said the opening of the Bangkok office is indicative of the strong interest and demand from our international partners to strengthen their presence in Southeast Asia.
“Thailand offers unique business opportunities and our professional staff in Bangkok offer local expertise and know-how to generate tangible results. In conjunction with our other Southeast Asian offices …we view the region as one with great potential yet to be fully tapped.”
Thailand’s as an outbound travel market grown to around 5 million trips a year, but 2 million of them are overland visits to neighbouring countries.
Travel industry executives in other Southeast Asian markets often comment that Thailand’s outbound market should be much bigger and wonder what are the constraints holding it back. They are probably low-pay scales and a reluctance on the part of Thais to take the standard 14-day paid holdiays at one time. They tend to take shorter vacations combining public holidays with the minimum of days off work usually to visit their families up-country.
Earlier this year, AVIAREPS opened an office in Yangon, Myanmar, in addition to offices already established in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Heading the AVIAREPS Bangkok office as its general manager is Saengaroon Nonesrichai who has 12 years sales and marketing experience including stints as Sales and Marketing Manager Thailand for Malaysia Airlines, Asia Atlantic Airlines and Volvo, where she was the recipient of the Volvo International Top Sales/Marketing Manager award.
Following the opening of the AVIAREPS Bangkok office she and her sales team will be responsible for the general sales agency (GSA) activities of SAS Scandinavian Airlines in Thailand, as well as travel trade marketing activities for Chic Outlet Shopping and Pierotucci – the Italian luxury leather goods brand.
Founded in Germany in 1994, AVIAREPS Group represents 90 airlines and more than 90 tourism clients.
