Green light for HCMC’s T2

HO CHI MINH CITY A USD108-million project is set to begin in November to expand T2 or the International Terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Local news channels reported that Minister of Transportation, Dinh La Thang, has approved the project of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which is scheduled to be completed in three years.
Three areas of the terminal will be expanded, raising the current space of 22,000 square metres to 115,834 square metres.
The improved terminal, which will include 120 check-in desks, 10 jet bridges and 19 gates, will be able to serve 13 million passengers per year, increasing the current capacity by 3 million.
The current terminal was opened in September 2007, with a capacity of 8 to 10 million passengers a year. It served 9.2 million passengers in 2013 and is expected to serve 9.8 million by the end of this year.
