Scoot's new 787 truly blessed

NAGOYA, Japan - Scoot’s new Boeing 787 received the honour of a traditional Shinto blessing at a ceremony held at Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) in Nagoya, Japan.

KHI, which manufactures the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s forward fuselage sections, hosted the ceremony attended by staff from Scoot, KHI, Rolls-Royce and Boeing.

In the blessing ceremony, a Japanese Shinto priest gave thanks for the smooth construction of the 787 fuselage. The ritual ceremony also included a purification of the fuselage, getting it ready for entry into service and a bestowing of blessings for Scoot’s success and growth.

Said Campbell Wilson, CEO of Scoot, “Today’s ceremony is another significant milestone in the lead-up to receiving our first 787 Dreamliner in December."

Boeing Japan President, George Maffeo, who attended the ceremony said, “Scoot has been a trailblazer since beginning operation in mid-2012 with its unique culture and low-cost service on Boeing 777s. We in Japan are very excited that Scoot will introduce the 787 Dreamliner to its fleet and be one of the few LCCs in the world flying this innovative airplane.”
