DANANG  Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan to develop culture, sports and tourism in the key central economic region with a plan that runs to 2020 and a vision beyond to 2030.
Local media reported that under the plan, five provinces (Thua Thien-Hue, Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh ) will expand as major sports centres and national tourism hubs.
The region will focus on promoting sea, islands and heritage themes.
Inside no3Priorities are ecological tourism, tourism and convalescence, spiritual tourism and tourism products that are linked with events such as festivals and history.
National tourism sites namely Lang Co-Canh Duong (Thua Thien-Hue), Son Tra and Ba Na (Danang), Cham Islands (Quang Nam), My Khe (Quang Ngai), and Phuong Mai (Binh Dinh) will be developed.
Bai Choi folk song documents will also be submitted to UNESCO for recognition on the world intangible cultural heritage list in 2015.
The master plan targets 10 million foreign and 15 million domestic visitors to the central region by 2030, earning USD3.8 billion in revenue and creating 140,000 direct jobs.
Earlier in October, the Prime Minister also approved a master plan to develop key central economic region towards 2020, with a vision to 2030. An economic growth of 8% is forecast by 2015 and 9% from 2016 to 2020.
GDP per capita is expected to reach USD3,800, approximately 1.1 to 1.2 times more than the national average.
