BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reports November data showed overall passengers passing through Suvarnabhumi airport declined 2.94%.
The country main gateway welcomed 4,219,149 passengers in November, compared to 4,346,955 during the same month last year.
AoT released details, Monday, revealing an improvement in aircraft movements of 9.60% in November across the system. Flights increased from 50,918 to 55,804. All six airports under its management handled 8,379,965 passengers an increase of 10.68% from 7,571,452 during the same month last year.
For the first 11 months of this year, the airports handled 81.16 million passengers. Three airports dominate the data: Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport 41.70 million passengers; Don Mueang 19.21 million; and Phuket 10.28 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled just 5.88 million passengers.
How the airports performed
Suvarnabhumi Airport registered a decline of 6.48% in international aircraft movements from 20,916 to 19,560, while domestic movements increased 2.23% from 4,975 to 5,086 movements.
International passenger traffic dropped 0.97% from 3,628,310 to 3,593,100, while domestic passengers decreased 12.88% from 718,645 to 626,049. Overall, it accounted for a 2.94% decline in passengers.
The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded an 30.47% increase of international aircraft movement from 3,489 to 4,552. Domestic movements posted a 29.70% improvement from 9,339 to 12,054.

Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in November. Both international and domestic aircraft movements registered double-digit increases of 34.44% (813 to 1,093) and 30.01% (2,996 to 3,895).
International passenger traffic grew 44.08% from 86,292 to 124,329, while domestic traffic gained 21.22% from 432,358 to 524,110.
Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 5.04% in international aircraft movements from 3,452 to 3,626, while domestic aircraft movements improved 13.86% from 2,669 to 3,039.
International passenger traffic increased 2.24% from 552,810 to 565,200, while domestic traffic improved 4.36% from 415,002 to 433,085.
Chiang Rai International Airport reported an increase in aircraft movements of 34.44% from 723 to 972, while passenger traffic grew 19.36% from 108,126 to 129,348.
Hat Yai International Airport reported an overall aircraft movement increased 24.64% from 1,546 to 1,927 in November. Meanwhile, overall passenger traffic registered a 28.94% growing from 203,159 to 261,947 passengers.
