India eases entry through ETA

NEW DELHI More than 22,000 visas were processed through electronic travel authorisation since the project was launched by the government of India 27 November, 2014.
Following implementation of the first phase of the Tourist Visas on Arrival (TVOAs) enabled by Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), nationals of 43 countries were given a 30-day stay for leisure and “casual business visits.
Of the more than 22,000 visas, processed through to the end of 2014, 6,100 TVOAs were from the US and 3,800 from Russia.
inside no 6Unlike a similar scheme introduced by Myanmar the scope of travel is much wider covering “recreation, short duration medical treatment, casual business visit, casual visit to meet friends or relatives for up to 30 days. A brochure on Visa-on-Arrival enabled by ETA has also been published.
