BANGKOK  Bangkok Airways has recruited a local movie and TV star to represent the airline as its “brand ambassador”.
Yaya Urassaya Sperbund is the star in the airline’s latest TV commercials that started broadcasting nationwide on most TV channels from 6 February.
The move underscores the importance the airline places in building a strong local customer base to support an expanding network across Thailand.

After a major rebranding in 1989, Bangkok Airways became best known for ferrying foreign tourists from the Thai capital to the holiday island of Samui. By 2000, it embarked on a major expansion when it took delivery of its first jet aircraft.
From then on it embarked on a campaign to win Thai travellers for its growing domestic network, mainly from its competitor Thai Airways International.
Commenting on the latest campaign, Bangkok Airways’ president, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth said: “Last year, we launched a successful corporate image campaign called “Service with passion” to show how much we care about our passengers. This year, we will emphasise our renowned services … to make Thai people more familiar with Bangkok Airways.”
TV and movie star, Yaya, will “position the airline as a premium full-service airline that offers an extraordinary flying experience,” he said.
