Gogobot followers name top destinations

BANGKOK  Thailand’s capital Bangkok was among a handful of Asian cities voted among the World’s Top 20 Destinations, according to ranking released by travel website gogobt.com
Voters in the “2015 Travellers’ Favourites Awards” named New York their favourite city destination.
Las Vegas, London, Paris and Rome all featured in the top 10.
The Awards, now in their third year, identify destinations that gogobot members enjoyed the most.
inside no 8Hong Kong figured as the highest rated Asian destination in third place, but Shanghai was not far behind in seventh place.
Bangkok was in 12th spot in the top 20 down from 10th place in last year’s ranking.
Just two other Asian destinations were featured in the top rankings; Singapore (16th) and Tokyo (17th).
The website praised the Thai capital for its vibrant streets with their characteristic “cacophony of sounds” and world-famous street goods. Bangkok’s value for money and easy-going culture also made it stand out.
In a TAT press release on Bangkok’s performance, TAT Governor, Thawatchai Arunyik said: “It’s great that travellers from around the world appreciate the special qualities that make Bangkok an exciting destination.”
It is not just Bangkok’s attractions getting international attention. Wi-Fi capabilities have also impressed observers. The city recently ranked 22nd out of 50 destinations on the website hotelwifitest.com for quality of Wi-Fi services offered in hotels.
Bangkok received scores of 52.5% for quality and 73.1% for free Wi-Fi offered. Hotels offering download speeds of at least 3 MB and an upload speed of 500 KB were voted as adequate. Free Wi-Fi was judged by the ratio of hotels that offered free in-room Wi-Fi. In this regard, Bangkok rated much higher than cities including Dubai, New York, LA and Paris.
