China talks tourism

VIENTIANE  Lao PDR’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism recently discussed with the Chinese National Tourism Administration how to promote tourism and develop services at tourist attractions throughout Laos.
The Vientiane Times reported that the two sides also discussed ways to bring more tourists to Laos from China.
China is keen to establish tourism related projects in Laos, increase its investment in hotels and revive talks on a proposed rail line to pass through Laos and link with the Thai rail system.

Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Chaleune Warinthrasak (Right ) and Mr Wu Wenxeu (Left) sign a memorandum of understanding on the development of quality standards for tourist attractions between the two countries in Vientiane.
Information, Culture and Tourism Minister, Bosengkham Vongdara, said Laos will gain more benefits from tourism after sharing its experiences with Chinese tourism experts.
“If China helps us to develop our human resources through training opportunities in China it would be very helpful for tourism development in Laos.”
China National Tourism Administration vice chairman, Wu Wenxeu, said Laos has considerable tourism potential including natural and cultural tourism.
A signing ceremony to establish cooperation in tourism took place at the close of the meetings.
