CAN THO Vietnam’s Mekong Delta’s destinations could attract 25.4 million tourists this year, 2.7 million of which would be foreign visitors, representing an increase of 11.3% over 2014.
But according to the Can Tho’s Provincial Tourism Association to reach the target, more tourism attractions are needed, the private sector must also invest in hotels and resorts, while the government has to improve human resources through training and education.
Private businesses are encouraged to invest in tourism infrastructure initiatives.
Local media quoted officials saying there was a need for more HR training and establishing traditional ethnic festivals linked to the Kinh, Khmer, and Chinese ethnic groups, as well as opening additional high-quality tours and tourism complexes.
inside no.5Notably, the Mekong Delta should develop waterway tourism, eco-tourism, and handicraft villages.
To succeed the Mekong Delta’s tourism industry has to work closely with Cambodia and Thailand to create routes that link all three countries.
The Mekong Delta is in southwest Vietnam where the Mekong River empties into the South China Sea through a network of distributaries.
The region includes 13 provinces or municipalities: Can Tho; An Giang; Bac Lieu; Ben Tre; Ca Mau; Dong Thap; Hau Giang; kien Giang; Long An; Soc Trang; Tien Giang; Tra Vinh; and Vinh Long.
