Thailand tastes in Italian

BANGKOK  The Tourism Authority of Thailand recently launched an Italian language magazine called “Taste of Thailand” to promote travel from Italy and help train travel agents and inform consumers.
TAT is the first tourism board in Italy to launch its own official print magazine dedicated to a single European market.
The magazine will serve the dual purpose of teaching Italian tourists and tour operators about Thailand’s destinations and tour products. It will also serve as a training guide for travel agents.
Advisor to the project is well-known Italian travel writer and Asia-expert, Corrado Ruggeri, writer of Farfalle Sul Mekong (Butterflies of the Mekong.
Commenting on the new magazine, TAT governor Thawatchai Arunyik, said: “Taste of Thailand” will enable us to reach out to tourists and industry specialists in their own language and get them excited about Thailand as a destination.”
“Taste of Thailand” will be published twice annually with a print run of 20,000. TAT will distribute 12,000 copies to travel agents in Italy and the remaining 8,000 at TAT events. It is hoped that in 2016, “Taste of Thailand” will be published every three months with a total print run of 60,000inside no 8.
A preview of the first edition was shown to the press in Milan at the Borsa Internazionale del Tourismo (BIT), Italy’s largest Italian travel fair, 12 to14 February, 2015. The second edition will be published for release at the TTG Incontri, a two-day B2B travel event held in October.
Companies supporting the project are: Bangkok Airways, Paradee Koh Samet, The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani Resorts, Etihad Airways, Radio Capital, ADR (Aeroporti di Roma), Islands.
