AoT: January traffic up

BANGKOK  Airports of Thailand reports its January data showing increases in both aircraft movements and passengers at six airports under its management.
AoT released its latest data, Thursday, revealing an improvement of 17.67% at its six airports. They handled 9,519,564 passengers up from 8,089,911 during the same month last year.
The overall airports’ aircraft movements also increased 8.75% from 56,555 to 61,503.
For the first month of the year, the country’s main gateway Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport welcomed 4.76 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 2.32 million and Phuket 1.20 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 768,004 passengers.

Suvarnabhumi Airport, however reported a dip in aircraft performance.
The airport registered a loss in international aircraft movements of 1.89% from 21,439 to 21,033 in January. Domestic movements increased 2.00% from 5,954 to 6,073.
International passengers grew 11.72% from 3,545,888 to 3,961,414, while the domestic sector reported a loss of 5.15% from 846,512 to 802,926.
The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport recorded a 23.38% increase of international aircraft movements from 3,914 to 4,829. Domestic movement posted a 20.77% improvement from 10,860 to 13,116.
International passenger traffic increased 49.38% from 426,181 to 636,615, while domestic passengers grew 45.76% from 1,160,748 to 1,691,906.
Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in January. Both international and domestic aircraft movements registered double-digit increases of 22.57% (1,090 to 1,336) and 12.90% (3,852 to 4,349).
International passenger traffic grew 36.63% from 117,855 to 161,021, while domestic traffic gained 22.77% from 494,421 to 606,983.
Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 5.61% in international aircraft movements from 3,954 to 4,176, while domestic aircraft movements improved 7.77% from 3,025 to 3,260.
International passenger traffic decreased 1.47% from 699,267 to 688,968, while domestic improved 10.36% from 471,725 to 520,597.
Chiang Rai International Airport reported an increase in aircraft movements of 40.18% from 891 to 1,249, while passenger traffic grew 34.18% from 121,218 to 162,650.
Hat Yai International Airport reported an overall aircraft movement increase of 32.11% from 1,576 to 2,082 in January. Overall passenger traffic registered a 39.01% growth from 206,096 to 286,484 passengers.inside-no-3.1
