BANGKOK  For the third year in a row, SpiceRoads is inviting riders to join their team on the Tour of Friendship R1, a five-stage road bike race, 2 to 6 May.
Riding with SpiceRoads’ team is an ideal introduction for would-be road racers as it offers them the benefit of team support.
Thailand’s Tour of Friendship it is neither about professional racing nor money – it is about the love of cycling and to connect cyclists from all over the world, according to the SpiceRoads email blast.
The stage race was successfully hosted even when Thailand was suffering political crisis with a full contingent of race teams from around the region.
SpiceRoads is the only cycle tour specialists that fields a team in this event and open team spots to cycling clients.
Inside no.6.1There are some basic conditions. Team spots are open to cyclists with experience riding in a peloton and able to average 40kph for long distances. To maintain an average 40kph over 100 km requires riders to ride at around 43 to 45 km comfortably.
This tour rides through central Thailand and the cities of Ayutthaya, Khao Yai, Wang Nam Kaew, Kabinburi, and Prachinburi.
There are several categories up to 59 years, masters and women and VIP cyclists.

Stage 1 – Time Trial around Suvarnabhumi International Airport Green Track.

Stage 3 – Ayutthaya – Khao Yai

SpiceRoads team members will be looked after from start to finish. This includes pick up, drop-off at airports, race registration, vehicle support during race, some meals, transport to/from race, five nights accommodation, two SpiceRoads race kits (jerseys and shorts/bibs), and two SpiceRoads water bottles.
The cost for the race package is USD1,275 with USD260 for a single supplement. Road bikes are available from rent from SpiceRoads USD150 for Trek Domane 2.3 road bike and USD225 for carbon Trek Emonda S5.
Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports has identified cycle tourism as a niche market that it intends to support.
