AoT figures march ahead

BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reports its March data showing increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic at the six airports under its management.
AoT reported, late last week, that all of its supervised airports recorded 9,723,763 passengers, up 25.67% from 7,737,756 visits during the same month last year.
The overall airports’ aircraft movements also increased by 16.05% from 53,355 to 61,916.
During the first three months of the year, the country’s main gateway, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport, welcomed 14.13 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 7.18 million and Phuket 3.59 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 2.16 passengers.
March performance highlights
inside no 3 Suvarnabhumi Airport registered an increase of 10.26% in international aircraft movements from 19,262 to 21,238, while domestic movements improved 0.96% from 5,835 to 5,891 movements.
International passenger traffic increased 22.86% from 3,289,468 to 4,041,422, while domestic passenger traffic grew 1.30% from 757,818 to 767,697. Overall, it accounted for an 18.82% increase from 4,047,286 to 4,809,119.
The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport recorded a 49.74% increase of international aircraft movement from 3,607 to 5,401. Domestic movement posted 22.36% improvement from 11,013 to 13,475.
International passenger traffic increased 74.28% from 434,737 to 757,654, while domestic passenger traffic was up 41.84% from 1,290,004 to 1,829,712.
Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in March. Both international and domestic aircraft movements registered double-digit increases of 19.98% (1,056 to 1,267) and 20.65% (3,433 to 4,142).
International passenger traffic grew 35.41% from 108,165 to 146,462, while domestic traffic gained 25.59% from 419,604 to 526,997.
Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 8.03% in international aircraft movements from 3,622 to 3,913, while domestic aircraft movements improved 12.68% from 2,879 to 3,244.
International passenger traffic increased 6.39% from 617,286 to 656,722, while domestic traffic improved 21.10% from 434,400 to 526,040.
Chiang Rai International Airport reported an increase in aircraft movements of 25.80% from 942 to 1,185 while passenger traffic grew 14.37% from 118,300 to 135,298.
Hat Yai International Airport reported an overall aircraft movement increase of 26.61% from 1,706 to 2,160 in March. Overall passenger traffic registered a 25.30% growth from 267,974 to 335,759 passengers.
