Marriott International has announced the opening of its first hotel in Taiwan, the Taipei Marriott Hotel.

The largest complex of its kind in Taipei, the Taipei Marriott Hotel comprises a five-star 320-room hotel, restaurants, lounge, convention centre, shopping mall and apartments.

It is located on the north bank of the Keelung River, in the Dazhi district, near Songshan International Airport.

As part of Marriott’s “Green Hotel Development” initiative, indigenous shrubbery and flowering plants are found throughout the hotel grounds and are interspersed with pieces of art and sitting areas.

In the centre of the landscape is ‘Butterflies’, an aluminum sculpture by Manolo Valdes, which is inspired by the nearby butterfly biosphere reserve on Mt. Jiannan.

The hotel’s convention centre features 3,000 m2 of meeting space and a 1,260m2 Grand Ballroom. The Garden Villa located on the top floor of the conference centre offers direct access to a rooftop garden and a chapel for weddings.

Hotel restaurant options include the Garden Kitchen with Asian-inspired Western fare , Mac’s Teppan serving teppanyaki, and Marriott’s signature Chinese restaurant, The Dining Place, with Cantonese and Sichuan dishes.

On the 20th floor, the Oxy Bar & Grill has a terrace lounge and Inge, on the 21st floor, is a whiskey bar with 200 varieties. The Taipei Marriott Hotel’s spa offers treatments, a 24-hour fitness centre and rooftop swimming pool.
