Phu Quoc casino site shifts

PHU QUOC  Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a proposal to move a multi-billion-dollar recreational complex to a new location on Phu Quoc Island, that lies off mainland Kien Giang province.
Saigon Times reported the complex, which includes a casino, will be developed in Bai Dai Ecotourism Area in Ganh Dau Commune instead of Bai Thom Commune, according to a revised zoning development plan for Phu Quoc that that covers infrastructure projects until 2030. Both sites were on the tourist island.
inside no 3The approval came several months after the Ministry of Construction proposed a new location to make it easier to find investors.
Earlier this year, Kien Giang province was told to prepare the project final proposal based on input from relevant ministries on incentives and policies after the government issued a decree allowing casinos on the island.
The complex is will have hotels with 3,000 rooms, a conference centre and a casino at an estimated investment cost of USD4 billion, the report said.
Phu Quoc island will have to set aside around 567 hectares of land in Bai Dai for tourism and recreational services, including a golf course, resorts, a casino, and craft villages.
