Danang wants Osaka flight

DANANG  Danang is pushing for a new air route that would link the central Vietnamese city with Osaka in Japan.
Saigon Times Online quoted Danang tourism department deputy director, Tran Chi Cuong, saying Danang officials will meet with tourism firms, travel associations and airlines to explore ways to add an airline service between the two cities.
Eight charter flights between Danang and Osaka were successfully launched in August and the Vietnamese city wants to have scheduled flights to attract tourists from this important market, he said.
inside no 2According to the department, Japan is the third-largest source of international tourists for the central Vietnamese city, after China and South Korea.
While there are many flights, both scheduled and charter, between Danang and China and South Korea, there is only one direct air service from Narita International Airport in Tokyo, the report said.
In 2014, Danang welcomed around 45,000 Japanese visitors, a sharp rise from 26,000 in 2012.
During the first nine months of this year, the city welcomed over 3.7 million tourists up 23.6% from last year’s figure.
Last year, Danang received nearly 3.8 million tourists, a 21.9% rise over 2013. Of that, 955,000 were foreign tourists, while domestic visitors reached 2.8 million.
This year, the city targets 4.5 million tourists including 1.5 million foreign tourists.
