Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa invests in kids with unveiling of giant water slide

PHUKET, THAILAND - Leading family resort, Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa, has raised the bar for value-hospitality experiences for families on the southern Thai island by unveiling a giant water slide in the centre of the resort just in time for the festive season.

The huge, 12-metre high water slide, nicknamed the Giant Slippery Slip after the slide in Enid Blyton's The Faraway Tree books, takes pride of place in the middle of the lagoon pool at the resort and nearby the iconic Bayon statue.

It is accompanied by a second tier slide at 7.5 metres tall for younger children in the lagoon pool. In addition, there are four other smaller slides in the dedicated kid's only pool for even younger children.

In celebration the resort is offering special Splashing Family Holidays of stays for five nights with a free dinner and stays of nine nights with an offer of one night for free.

The announcement follows the recent introduction of a series of fun and learning activities aimed at children including kids cooking and fruit cocktail making classes and elephant jungle safaris.

"Families love to have fun. They love to be together, laugh together and above all spent time together on holiday and this is our main focus," said Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa General Manager Philip Raiss.

The 12-metre slide, which was made in Thailand to exacting international standards, features a series of half open tubes for guests to shoot through, and is suitable for eight year olds and over whereas the smaller 7.5 metre slide is designed for six years olds and up.

The Giant Slippery Slip is open daily for guests of the resort from between 10.00 and 18.00 every day with trained water safety experts on hand at all times.

Centrally located on Karon Beach in the heart of its shopping, dining and entertainment district, a few minutes walk from the beach, Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa is a 524-room resort created around a village concept.
