BINH THUAN A sand statue park titled Forgotten Land will open next January in the south central province of Binh Thuan as a new product to attract family travellers.
Local media reported work on “Forgotten Land” sand statue park began last week in the province’s Phan Thiet city.
The 1.3-hectare park will display various statues featuring fairy tales and legends of Vietnam and the world, made entirely from natural sand by sculptors from 12 countries, worldwide.
Binh Thuan People’s Committee vice chairman, Nguyen Duc Hoa, said the park will draw more tourists to the beach city.
The park will be officially launched, 29 January, 2017, with many famous sand sculpture works under the theme “Vietnam and the World’s fairy tales and legends”.
There will be 17 sand statues with the signature exhibit a dinosaur replica made by professional sand sculptors from 12 countries: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Latvia, the Netherlands, Togo, Russia, Singapore and the United States.
For the first nine months of the year, the province welcomed 3,230,381 tourists up 6.6% over the same period last year.
The province is known for its scenery and beaches. There are also a number of sites of archaeological significance.
Binh Thuan borders Lam Dong province in the north, Ninh Thuan province in the north-east, and Dong Nai and Ba Ria–Vung Tau provinces in the west.
