DANANG Danang tourism authorities have set up a rapid response team to closely monitor safety and security measures for visitors.
The subject has moved up the ‘must-do’ list for tourism authorities as they attempt to strengthen Danang’s overall appeal and compete positively with neighbouring beach destinations by having a strong security record.
Local media reported the city’s People’s Committee chairman, Huynh Duc Tho, saying the rapid response team was at the centre of a policy to improve the security environment.
The team headed by deputy director of the city’s Department of Tourism, has the participation of market managers, Department of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, People’s Committees at district level, and the Immigration Management Office.
The team will help the People’s Committee gather information related to safety.
It has the mission to inspect, detect and tackle problems related to safety proactively by forwarding records to relevant agencies to handle violations linked to tourism activities.
Danang tourism authorities project the city will attract 8.85 million visitors by 2020, including 2.45 million foreigners. Tourism earning will reach USD1.41 billion.
This year, the city targets 5.1 million visitors, including 1.32 million from abroad, to generate USD616 million in revenue.
Last year, the city logged 4.6 million tourist arrivals, including over 1.2 million international tourists, a 22.4% year-on-year increase. The city’s tourism revenue reached USD558.8 million.
Danang is Vietnam’s third largest city located on the eastern sea coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
