New passport office opens in Bangkok

BANGKOK A new passport issuing office opens today at the Khlong Toei MRT Station.

The project is a joint venture between the Department of Consular Affairs, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited and Bangkok Metro Network Limited.

The new office is located at the Metro Mall area, which will be able to serve up to 800 people a day. It opens Monday to Friday from 0830 to 1530.

The service aims to serve people living in inner Bangkok and reduce traffic congestion by encouraging use of the mass transportation system to get to the office.

It also saves having to travel to the government complex on the outskirts of northern Bangkok, where the main consular affairs department is located.

The department already has offices in Bangkok at Thanya Park shopping mall on Srinakarin Road in Suan Luang district, SC Plaza, Southern Bus Terminal Bangkok (Sai Tai Mai bus station) on Borommaratchachonnani Road in Taling Chan district and Big C Suwinthawong in Min Buri district in addition to its head office on Chaeng Wattana Road.
