Cathay Pacific has raised concerns regarding Qantas’ interest in Jetstar Hong Kong and other Asian offshoots in a submission to Australian regulatory bodies.
Qantas are seeking approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to co-ordinate services with its Jetstar subsidiaries in Asia.
Qantas wants control of co-ordinated networks, pricing, purchasing and resourcing decisions, according to the SMH.
Cathay has told the ACCC that a decision should be made after Hong Kong regulators offer approval.
“It may be difficult for the ACCC to authorise the proposed conduct in relation to Hong Kong if it is unclear whether Jetstar will be granted approval to operate flights within Hong Kong and, if it is granted approval, what the conditions of that approval may be,” Cathay Pacific said in a statement.
