BANGKOK- Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced on Thursday that it will be forced to process to a necessary upgrading of its reservation and ticketing system. The change will take place on October 12th.
There will consequently be a temporarily suspension of Thai Airways International reservation and ticketing services and Royal Orchid Plus redemption services from Saturday, 12 October 2013 from 4.30 pm (Bangkok time) until Sunday, 13 October 2013 at 5.00 am.
Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, THAI Senior Executive Vice President of Commercial, said that Thai will change the current reservation, inventory control and ticketing system to the Amadeus Altea platform as the airline places great emphasis on the implementation of this new platform to serve customers faster and more the conveniently through faster transaction time, accuracy and synchronized information link.
The Amadeus Altea platform, used by most of the Star Alliance carriers as well as other major airlines, consists of four core components such as reservation, ticketing, inventory control, and departure control. The platform was design to allow these four core components to be able to share passenger travel information and requirements which improve processing time and improve other customer services at each point of travel on Thai. The Amadeus Altea platform can also be further developed and expanded on an ongoing basis for additional service features that can improve the Company’s competitiveness, as well as allowing joint IT development with other alliance carriers.
During this period, THAI’s reservation and ticketing services will be temporarily unavailable as the upgrade will require synchronization of customer information. However, passenger check-in at the airport, mobile and internet check-in services during this period will be unaffected with no technical failure to be expected at Thai Airways airport’s operations.
Thai Airways International ticket offices in Thailand will also close from 1500 hours (local time) on Saturday, 12October 2013 and return to normal operational hours the following day.
