AirAsia would like to advise the public that AirAsia is not involved, directly or indirectly, with the organization of any of lottery programs promising lucrative cash prizes or any shopping voucher programs.
It has come to our attention that the general public and some of our guests have been receiving email messages inviting them to participate in lottery programs or a 1Malaysia Shopping Voucher program purported to be organized by AirAsia.
The lottery originates from an entity calling itself “AirAsia (Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters)”, with “Ground Floor, Terminal 2, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Old Airport Road, Tanjung Aru Sabah” as its business address.
The entity falsely claims to be organizing the ‘2012 AirAsia Exclusive Special Bonus Program’ with a cash prize up to USD130,000.00 to be given away.
The 1Malaysia Shopping Voucher program appears to offer RM5,000 worth of AirAsia vouchers and entices guests to provide their personal details.
We would like to point out that we do not have either program in place. We also have not authorized any company/organization/gaming establishment to organise a lottery or a 1Malaysia Shopping Voucher program on our behalf.
Hence, we advise the public to disregard such messages and we shall not be held liable for claims pertaining to the above.
We have reported the matter to the Royal Malaysian Police, as we are deeply concerned about how such misrepresentation may mislead and cause substantial losses to the public, and to safeguard AirAsia from reputational damage. We are also lodging a report with the Malaysia Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) soon.
We also will not hesitate to take legal action and initiate civil or criminal proceedings against individuals or groups who organise such schemes using the AirAsia brand.
