THAI extends crew retirement age

Thai Airways (THAI) has agreed to extend the retirement age for outsource contracted female flight attendants from the current 45 years to 60 years.

Announced late last week, the airline said as part of the new agreement each flight attendant will be assessed annually before being offered a new contract, The Nation reported.

Although the move will build the carrier’s expenses, THAI said it will reduce costs by offering employees a retirement package ahead of the obligatory 60 years retirement age.

Meanwhile, earlier this month THAI announced the introduction of new direct flights between Bangkok and Sapporo.
