Air New Zealand has capitalised on the popularity of the upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel, with its Hobbit-themed safety video receiving worldwide recognition and publicity.
Over nine million people have watched the new instructional safety film since its launch earlier this month.
Air New Zealand has released an additional behind-the-scenes recording to compliment the growing popularity of the new safety video.
“The video has been a phenomenal hit globally clocking up more than 8 million views on YouTube and around a million more on its equivalent in China,” Air New Zealand general manager marketing and communications Mike Tod said.
“It really is quite amazing to think that on average more than 30,000 people an hour have been watching the video since it was launched and the equivalent of more than twice the population of New Zealand have now seen it.”
