Kingfisher served an eviction notice

Kingfisher Airlines is reportedly receiving the boot from Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) for failing to pay its rent.

The airline is said to have received an eviction notice from the airport less than a week ago for not paying its overdue payment of Rs 22 crore for rented out office space and checkin desks at domestic Terminal 1A, The Times of India reported.

Although MIAL says it is yet to hear from the airline, a Kingfisher spokesperson said the carrier was looking to cut back its space at the airport and was in the process of “voluntarily” handing rented space back to MIAL.

“"We do not need all that space anyway since we have scaled down our operations,” the spokesperson said.
As well as losing its space at the airport, the struggling airline was reportedly at risk of losing its licence to fly earlier this year unless it was able to turnover its suspension before the end of this year.
