Malaysia ready for oneworld

Malaysia Airlines will considerably strengthen its competitive position and expand its international aviation network when the airline becomes the 12th member of the growing oneworld alliance.

Malaysia Airlines will officially join the global airline group from February next year, providing customers with oneworld’s full range of services and benefits

“With our business plan showing positive results since its launch last December, this is an opportune time for our induction into this global alliance,” Malaysia Airlines group chief executive Encik Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said.

“This will enable us to tap into all the financial benefits that come from being part of a global alliance, through additional passenger feed and cost reduction opportunities.

“These are exciting times for both Malaysia Airlines and oneworld, which already has attracted Sri Lankan Airlines as well as Qatar Airways to join this alliance after us.”

Malaysia Airlines was awarded five-star status this year by Skytrax and won the award for ‘world’s best cabin crew’ for the seventh time in eleven years.

Malaysia Airlines will add 14 South East Asia destinations and one country - Brunei - to the oneworld network.
