AirAsia X to Fly to Busan, 2nd Largest City in Korea

 AirAsia X, the Malaysian-based long-haul, low-fare airline affiliate of the AirAsia Group, today announces its latest international route from Kuala Lumpur to Busan, the airline’s 2nd destination after Seoul in Korea, and the first direct flight connecting the two cities.

AirAsia X will commence services and fly direct to Gimhae International Airport, Busan from 15 July 2013 onwards with four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Busan. The route will be operated by the Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 12 Premium Flatbed seats and 365 Economy seats.

The Flu-thru service allows passengers to seamlessly purchase two flight sectors and connect via Kuala Lumpur. Same booking and travel period applies for our Fly-Thru promotion.

Fares are available online for booking from 17 (Time: 00:00 Malaysia/0:100 Korea) to 28 April, 2013 for travel between 15 July 2013 and 30 April, 2014.

Guests from Busan will now be able to fly to Malaysia and thereafter use Kuala Lumpur as a gateway to over 85 destinations served by the AirAsia Group in South East Asia and beyond, which includes regional ASEAN cities or long-haul sectors served by AirAsia X.

“We estimate that more than 60 per cent of AirAsia X passengers to and from Busan will be first time visitors, which will contribute significantly to tourism growth, allowing AirAsia X the opportunity to open up new market segments from Malaysia and Busan with its affordable fares. Guests from Malaysia and surrounding regions may also fly to Busan via Kuala Lumpur hub or use Busan as a gateway to beautiful Jeju Island which is only an hour away by flight,” said Azran.

The AirAsia brand is already present in Busan with AirAsia Japan's flight from Busan to Tokyo. This service also enables AirAsia X passengers to visit both destinations: Tokyo and Busan, flying from Kuala Lumpur to one city and flying back from another city.

AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low-fare carrier to introduce Premium Flatbed seats, which have standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline position.

The Premium flatbeds feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Premium seat guests also enjoy premium complimentary products and services including Pick A Seat, Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage, 25kg Baggage Allowance, Complimentary Meal and Pillow & Duvet.

With over 3.6 million people, Busan is the second largest city and the number 1 trading port in Korea. Attractions include the beach areas, islands, and Hae Ahn Park coupled with historical ruins and sites, and Dongnae Shrine. Surely Busan's most charming tourist point is its beautiful sea vistas. Jeju Island, is the only self-governing province in South Korea, and lies South of the Korean peninsula. This volcanic island is dominated by Hallasan Mountain, which stands 1,950 meters high and is Korea’s highest mountain. It boasts a subtropical climate, much warmer than the rest of the Korean Peninsula, and is the location of many citrus fruit farms. Because of its isolation, Jeju Island has developed its own distinct culture and traditions; including the commonly found “stone grandfather” statues and matriarchal family structures.
