Mistook the photo to the right for the first ever inflight food fight?
Unfortunately for passengers and crew on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ308, the picture did not capture the aftermath of a high school cafeteria-type argument, but rather the result of major turbulence, which sent the plane falling 20 meters and caused every unsecured item in the cabin to go flying.
According to a passenger on board the Singapore to London flight on Sunday, Alan Cross said the cabin had been warned of turbulence up ahead, but nobody expected to see everything, including people, hitting the ceiling, The Daily Mail reported.
“[It felt] like being in an elevator with a cut cable or free-falling from some amusement park ride,” Mr Cross said describing the incident.
“The cabin crew was amazing in the aftermath, as were fellow passengers who helped everyone around them then in a calm and efficient clean-up.”
He said staff checked for injuries before cleaning up the cabin.
Paramedics were called to further inspect passengers upon arrival in Heathrow, and according to the airline, 11 passengers and one crew member sustained minor injuries.
