Chan Brothers Travel and Panorama Leisure Group (PLG) are setting up an independent company, Panorama Tours (Singapore), the duo?s second joint-venture collaboration after Chan Brothers Travel Indonesia.
Rama Tirtawisata, managing director of PLG?s outbound arm Panorama Tours Indonesia, said the new company was part of PLG?s regional expansion strategy. The group opened Panorama Tours Malaysia last year.
Tirtawisata said: ?Singapore is a destination and a market, so the new company will be both an inbound and outbound agency. But we?ll do this in stages.?
Panorama Tours (Singapore), equally owned by the two travel companies, will first focus on Indonesian traffic into the city-state. After six months, it will tap the Singapore outbound market.
?We will begin with the Indonesian community in Singapore as they?ll be more comfortable with an Indonesian brand. Once this is established, we?ll develop other segments, be it leisure or incentive,? said Tirtawisata.
In a couple of years? time, the company will move into inbound, bundling Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Chan Brothers Travel group managing director Anthony Chan was confident the new entity would not cannibalise the company?s current inbound and outbound operations, saying ?earnings would still go to Chan Brothers? bottomline?.
