Da Nang tourism festival kicks off

The Da Nang tourism festival opened at Pham Van Dong Park in Da Nang on June 19.

Under the theme ?Da Nang ? Your Summer Destination 2010?, the festival, which is held by the Da Nang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will take place along the city?s coast in Son Tra Ecotourism Centre and Ba Na resort.

During the festival, a programme promoting tourism in the central region was launched, attracting the participation of hotel staff from Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue and other countries including Singapore, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia.

The festival also features various cultural and artistic performances as well as sports activities such as diving, boat racing, aerobics, water skiing and swimming.

Travel agents are offering visitors tours to explore the city?s attractions like Son Tra Peninsula, Ba Na Mountain and the Hoa Spring.

More than 100 pupils from the city entered a painting contest entitled ?Joining Hands to Protect the Sea?.

The event, which is organised as a part of the National Tourism Promotion Programme, aims to help the city achieve its target of welcoming 1,450,000 visitors, including 350,000 foreigners, in 2010.
