A new website, Beachfront Club that launched, Monday, will deliver interactive web tools and a gutsy realism on the world’s top beaches, according to Beachfront Club director, Jade Wei.
“It will tell travellers exactly which hotels are right on the beach, while exposing those that pretend to be,” Wei said in the launch brief emailed to worldwide news channels.
Beachfront.Club has its origins in a venture that attempted to identify Asia’s top beaches back in 2009. After restructuring and fresh equity, the venture was registered in Hong Kong as On The Beach Company Limited, in 2012. Subsequently, the company assigned software developers mainly from Russia, India, Singapore) to complete the project.
Today, the site will present a rare and honest appraisal of more than 8,000 hotels from the perspective of the beaches where they claim to reside including the minutes it takes to walk from lobby to seashore.
In the phase one launch, the site will concentrate on ASEAN beaches, supplying a raft of beach-specific functions that give users a completely new way to conduct comparative shopping in the search for the perfect sand and sea setting.
Beachfront Club’s goal is to become a major beaches information site on a global scale offering comparisons, environment evaluations and an exhaustive accommodation database.
In its initial template the site covers Southeast Asian countries, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines, but it will shortly be extended to all major beach destinations globally.
The website aims to remove doubts about beachfront locations, while encouraging beach-lovers to book the ‘right’ hotel in confidence.
User ratings and interactivity, along with beach maps, photos, video and detailed text will help create a profile, or personality, for each beach.

The management talks about being “honest, and occasionally brutal” in presenting the facts and character of the beaches.
“Those in the travel industry who continue labelling every stretch of sand and water as ‘paradise’, call any patch of trees ‘lush tropical rainforest’ and turn plain water into ‘sparkling turquoise’ are fodder for the dustbin of marketing history,” Wei said in the launch release Monday.
Beachfront Club is linked to worldwide online travel agencies and booking engines such as Agoda, Expedia, HotelTravel, Priceline, and R24 in Thailand to make it possible to book hotels and other services while online.
“We use ae white label booking function from Priceline-Agoda that allows us to display our own box and their hotel reviews. Importantly, we can show lowest prices very early, when users are just perusing hotels along the beach maps. That’s quite user-friendly compared to most travel sites,” said Wei.
In the business pipeline is premium membership for qualified hotels that should roll out later this year. The display and services for hotels currently seen on-line (including the third-party certification of their ‘true beachfront’ location) are free.
Hotels can log-in, take control of their pages within the site and upload info and photos as they wish.
Thailand content alone has over 1,000 beachfront accommodations mapped on 180 beaches. Backpacker bungalows are displayed along with five-star resorts to make the site the most comprehensive compilation of Thailand’s beaches and beach accommodation.
John Everingham, an Australian photographer-publisher, is the main architect for both the site concept and content. He is a 30-year veteran of Thailand, with years of experience photographing the country’s most remote beaches and islands.
Only seen in Southeast Asia for now, the beach guides will set the tone and template content to bring beaches, worldwide, to the attention of travellers by the end of the year.
