In a bid to encourage more tourism, the Malaysian government is set to introduce measures that will make it easier for Indian visitors to obtain visas.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that the Immigration Department would set up more offices in India where potential tourists could obtain visas, reports Oneindia News.

Tourism is Malaysia?s third most profitable source of income from foreign exchange, with Indian tourism being among the country?s top ten tourist sources in 2009.

A total of 590,000 Indian tourists visited Malaysia last year, and with over 100 flights running between the two countries each week, the Prime Minister is confident of the potential for improvement.

The majority of air services between the countries are Malaysian based. Malaysia Airlines operates 30 flights a week, while Malaysian budget carrier Air Asia runs 63 flights each week.
