Jordan's tourism revenue up 28 percent

Jordan?s tourism revenue increased 28 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the comparable period of 2009, the Jordan Times reported, citing Jordan Tourism Board figures.

Tourism revenue rose to 1.089 billion dinars ($1.5 billion) in the six months, from 851 million dinars in the year-earlier period, the newspaper said.

The kingdom was visited by 3.63 million tourists, up from 2.93 million in the first half of 2009, a 24 percent increase, the Times said.
