A new website template which will provide easy access to information across a number of Queensland regions is being developed thanks to a Tourism Queensland AUD420,976 grant.
Tourism Whitsundays along with partners, seven other regional tourism organisations, successfully won a Queensland Tourism Network Grant for their application to create a uniform, user friendly, destination-rich website.
"This project will bring together a range of tourism groups to develop a standardised website template which will have consistent branding and functionality across the eight destinations," Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said.
Member for Whitsunday Jan Jarratt said the website will promote regions of Queensland visitors may not otherwise see.
"It's hoped the website will better appeal to prospective travellers and encourage them to not only visit the Whitsundays but to stay on and visit other destinations in Queensland as well.
"Uniting the tourism organisations in Queensland for a more unified approach to selling the regions is not only good for the local economy but the whole state."
The websites will maintain the individuality of each destination, but using the same template, will make it easier for visitors to source information as they travel between each region, Mr Lawlor said.
The tourism organisations working with Tourism Whitsundays include Fraser Coast and South Burnett Tourism, Mackay Tourism, Bundaberg and North Burnett Tourism, Capricorn Tourism, Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd, Toowoomba and Golden West Regional Tourist Association and Southern Downs and Granite Belt Regional Tourism.
