China travel firm taps Amadeus

BANGKOK  Amadeus announced, Wednesday, an agreement with China’s Ctrip.com International to power the company’s overseas expansion.
The actual agreement was signed at an Amadeus conference in Phuket, 26 November, 2014.
The multi-year agreement with Ctrip, China’s leading travel company in terms of market capitalisation, will include the provision of all air content for points of sale outside of mainland China.
This initially includes Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and the USA, with future plans to move into Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Thailand.
Inside no.5Initially, Ctrip will adopt Amadeus Master Pricer TravelBoard (including multi-merchant capability) as their low-fare search engine, as well as Amadeus Mini Rules and Amadeus Ticket Changer.
Commenting via the Amadeus Blog, Ctrip CEO of Air Ticketing Business Unit Xiong Xing said, “Working hand in hand with our industry partners has helped Ctrip grow to become one of China’s largest travel companies…Being a truly international travel player is paramount to our success in the future.”
Amadeus head of leisure online & travel media, Sebastien Gibergues, said, “Amadeus has built a successful relationship with Ctrip over the last few years, so it is a natural next step to grow our partnership through Amadeus Flight Search and our merchandising portfolio in the global online travel market.
