Dusit moves into Myanmar with D2 brand

Dusit International has unveiled plans for its first hotel in Myanmar.

Scheduled to open in 2017, the dusitD2 Residence Yangon will form part of the Thai hotel group’s contemporary D2 brand, which it says is aimed at “today’s new generation traveller”.

Located between Yangon International Airport and the city centre, the new property will feature 300 rooms, a restaurant, bar, business lounge, gym and swimming pool. It will also feature multi-storey vertical gardens and large windows on the ground floor, to give guests “the feeling of indoor/outdoor living.” The pool, bar and gym areas will be positioned in the top floors, to offer the best views.

“We are very pleased to introduce the dusitD2 brand in Yangon which will be a tremendous addition to our portfolio,” said Dusit’s director of hotel business development, Ryan Chen.

“Our team will work closely with the developer and all stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a successful project. With the growth of Myanmar’s tourism industry, we truly look forward to showcasing Dusit’s world-renowned hospitality in this charming city.”

The Yangon hotel will add to Dusit’s existing collection of D2s in Nairobi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, California and the Chinese city of Changzhou. It is also planning to the launch the brand in Tianjin, Delhi, Gurgaon and the Thai mountain retreat of Khao Yai.
