HCMC street bans vehicles

HO CHI MINH CITY HCMC authority will ban motor vehicles, next month, on Nguyen Hue Street during the evenings on weekends and public holidays, making it the first pedestrian-friendly street.
Local media reported that the city transport department will make the street vehicle-free between 1800 and 2300 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Trucks serving commercial premises on the street will need to apply for special permission.
The transformation of Nguyen Hue into a pedestrian-friendly street will turn nearby streets into parking areas for cars that cannot enter Nguyen Hue.
inside no 9A planned upgrade is expected to cost USD20.2 million and will turn the 670-metre long street into a cultural zone hosting 3D art events and featuring water fountains at night.
Nguyen Hue Street transverses the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. It belongs to District 1, which is a district with highest living standards in the city.
Even with traffic gridlock it is sill considered one of the most beautiful streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
