Myanmar will host 8 million visitors by 2020

YANGON  Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism says the country’s tourism master plan is now underway following the recommendations of the Asia Development Bank and the Norwegian government that funded and wrote the plan.
Eleven Myanmar media quoted tourism minister, Htay Aung, as saying the master plan includes 38 projects, requiring an investment of USD486.6 million and need to be completed by 2020.
The ministry has currently received USD215.6 million for 21 projects, according to the ministry director Hlaing Oo.
inside no 2The tourist flow to Myanmar is likely to increase at a rate of 1.5 million visitors per year and is expected to hit 8 million in 2020. The income from international visitors should reach USD10 billion in 2020, according to the tourism master plan.
The service industries of Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle, Kyaikhteeyoe and Ngapali will be improved over the next five years.
The infrastructure in Chaungtha and Ngwesaung beaches will also be developed, and roads connecting Putao, Myeik Archipelago, Naga Land, Natmauk Mountain and Loikaw will be upgraded to improve transport flow.
The country projects 5 million tourists, this year up, from 3 million in 2014.
