HONG KONG - The global launch of Postcard & Tag, an entirely unique online social travel directory, will be taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday, April 21.

Using digital postcards - that are geo-mapped and also categorised into a variety of travel experiences - Postcard & Tag users can share inspiring imagery of their discoveries with other travellers, and explore unique destinations that can be collated into a personal guide for future trips.

“Guide books can become outdated and often miss the unique discoveries which you only hear about from other travellers,” said Punyo Sakharet, Creative Director and co-founder of Postcard & Tag.

“A picture tells a thousand words and travellers naturally prefer imagery which makes a far larger connection than wordy travel reviews,” Sakharet added. “We’ve reinvigorated and personalised the traditional postcard and brought it into the 21st century.”

“There’s no better way to share insight into a destination than through imagery. Our aim is to establish a vibrant and visual travel community completely dedicated to uncovering the most up to date and unique finds, whether it is a trendy new hotel, an up and coming restaurant, or a largely unexplored cultural experience,” he continued.

The site is free of charge to members and integrates with all the popular social media platforms. Five categories comprising – Sleep, Eat & Drink, See & Do, Shop and Play, allow users to search destinations based on their personal travel preferences. Users can create their own travel directory to either plan a future trip, or share a collection of travel memories with family and friends.

“We’ve selected Indonesia for the global launch because – other than Bali - it’s a country largely unexplored by many international visitors,” Ruth Naderer, CEO and co-founder explained.

“Indonesians too are increasingly discovering the unique beauty and enormous diversity of cultural experiences that this country has to offer. We’re certain that Indonesian travellers, and the world at large, will appreciate the unique features of Postcard & Tag to showcase any destination through the camera and more often today, through a smartphone lens.”

Commenting on the introduction of Postcard & Tag in Indonesia, Arief Yahya, Minister of Tourism said; "Indonesia's thousands of islands and 34 provinces provide travellers with the opportunity to experience a huge variety of culture, heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. I am delighted that Postcard & Tag has selected Indonesia to globally launch its social travel review website and am excited about the opportunity to further inspire and share Wonderful Indonesia with travellers around the world."

“We are appointing destination ‘Locals’ who will also share their knowledgeable insider tips for their town or city,” Naderer added. “We have international celebrity chefs, television presenters, renowned professional travel photographers and even professional surfers, who have already committed to representing their areas of expertise with the Postcard & Tag community.”

In the coming year Postcard & Tag will roll out launch events throughout Southeast Asia, although the site is already available for members globally.
