More films shot in Thailand

BANGKOK Thailand earned a record THB1,467.31 million from on-location film shoots, January to April this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department update released Thursday. For the first four months of the year, 260 documentaries, advertising slots, TV series, and music videos were filmed on location generating THB1,467.31 million in tourism related revenue compared to 220 productions and THB750.89 million during the same period last year. The 260 productions were categorised as 61 documentaries, 129 advertising spots, 19 television programmes, 18 music videos and 33 films. European filmmakers topped the list for the first four months with 60 productions followed by 46 from Japan, 38 from India, 17 from South Korea, 16 from the United States, 14 from China, 12 from Hong Kong, four from Australia, two from Taiwan, and 51 from others. inside no 2In April alone, there were 54 productions that generated THB493.82 million compared to 50 productions that circulated THB67.48 million during the same month last year. Europe also led the field in April with 14 productions followed by 10 from Japan, nine from India, four from Hong Kong, three each from South Korea and US, two from China, one from Australia and eight from others. Promoting film shoots comes under a department that is part of Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
