HO CHI MINH CITY Ho Chi Minh City’s extension of Terminal T2 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport will go ahead giving the gateway airport an additional 3 million passenger capacity by the time it opens in early 2017.
The Saigon Time media reported Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Corporation (HBC) has won the construction contract for phase one of the Terminal T2 expansion project.
The project will be funded by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and carried out in two phases to expand the terminal to the east first and then to the west.
HBC is the lead partner in a consortium comprising of four other local contractors. Officially the construction period is 417 days.

The expansion will increase the capacity of Tan Son Nhat’s international terminal from the current 10 million passengers to 13 million a year, the report said.
