HO CHI MINH CITY A Ho Chi Minh City-based company has proposed developing a 84.5 km privately operated expressway to connect the city outskirts with a neighbouring province that borders Cambodia.
Tuoi Tre News reported the proposed expressway would link the city to Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh province to improve trade and transport between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Cuu Long Corporation confirmed a proposal had been submitted to the Ministry of Transport to build the expressway, which would also allow the company to manage and set appropriate toll fees.
The project would cost USD1.37 billion and would be developed as a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) concession, the company said. Usually a BOT is valid for 30 years with a possible extension of another 15 years.
