Hong Kong Airlines launches the 7th “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme

It’s time for summer holiday! Hong Kong Airlines hosted a special post-exam activity for students from Cho Yiu Catholic Primary School - the 7th “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme, by widening their horizons beyond classroom learning. A group of 40 students, under the guidance of Hong Kong Airlines’ crew members, came onboard a real aircraft and visited the airport facilities. They all found the activity a fruitful lesson enhancing their aviation knowledge and interest in the field. Since its launch last year, “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme has received overwhelming response from schools and parents with ample incoming applications.

Over 200 students have joined this well-known aviation education programme and gained a better understanding of the industry. Mr. Li Dianchun, Commercial Director of Hong Kong Airlines, said, “Hong Kong Airlines has recorded rapid growth over the years since its inception in 2006. It wins recognition by being awarded the highly-esteemed SKYTRAX 4-star rating for the fourth consecutive year."

"We believe education is crucial to attracting aviation talents. So by launching the “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme and other student sponsorship programme, we offer students exposure to the aviation industry, equip the next generation with better aviation knowledge, and hope to help nurture more aviation talents.” The aviation experience programme debuted with a visit to Hong Kong Airlines’ catering service centre and check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport. Students learnt about how meals are prepared and the daily operation of ground services. Led by pilots and flight attendants, the students were then on board a Hong Kong Airlines A330 aircraft and entered the cockpit for the first time. They also experienced Business Class facilities and tried on life jackets. Some students even dressed in pilots’ and flight attendants’ uniforms and performed inflight duties.

Students who have never flying on a plane found the visit very exciting and a number of participants expressed the wish of becoming a pilot when they grow up. Hong Kong Airlines will continue to hold the “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme later this year to offer more students the exposure to the aviation industry.
