The Langham Place Mongkok in Hong Kong will become a Cordis hotel this month, marking the launch of the company’s new upscale brand.

Following a recent renovation, the Cordis Hong Kong will officially debut on 26 August 2015, decorated with more than 1,500 pieces of contemporary Chinese art, valued at over HK$35 million (US$4.5m).

The property will offer 664 rooms and suites, all equipped with smartphones providing guests with free Wi-Fi and calls. A range of club rooms also offer access to the newly-refurbished Club Lounge on the 36th floor.

F&B options include Ming Court, the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, the European-style Alibi restaurant and bar, The Place, a buffet restaurant, and a terrace lounge called The Backyard.

Other facilities include rooftop pool with underwater music, 24-hour fitness centre, a spa and 16 meeting rooms, including a ballroom. The hotel is also directly connected to the Langham Place Shopping Mall.

“The launch of Cordis Hong Kong is a significant milestone in our long-term growth plan to introduce Cordis hotels and resorts across the region,” said Robert Warman, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group.

“Each Cordis hotel will be individual in style, architecture and design, all of which will be reflective of its location and culture, and tailored to the requirements of our guests, from corporate travellers to honeymooners to multi-generational families. For example, Cordis, Hong Kong is vibrant, modern, and features family-friendly facilities and amenities that complement its bustling neighbourhood,” he added.

Announced earlier this year, Cordis derives its name from the Latin term meaning “heart”. According to Langham, the brand will focus on providing “intuitive service, connectivity, sophistication and a sense of community”.

Langham has also signed letters of intent for hotels in a further seven destinations over the next three years, including five hotels in China and one each in Bali and Colombo. Other targeted cities include London, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Francisco, Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok.
