Visas: In and out hops stopped

BANGKOK Thailand’s immigration checkpoints along the Cambodia and Myanmar borders abruptly shut down visa-free entry, Saturday, according to a report by AEC News.
Thaivisa.com picked up the report from AEC News, Monday, that claimed Thailand’s border crossings along the Cambodia border and Phu Nam Ron/ Htee Khee border crossing at Kanchanaburi on the border with Myanmar restricted services. Travellers use the border checkpoints to extend their visa exempt period. There were reports that some people were not allowed to depart and return (out-in border hops) to activate second, or multiple-entry visas of any class.
It is understood crackdown was a response to an on-going investigation into the Erawan shrine bombing ,17 August. There were allegations that immigration officials took bribes that allowed the bombers to enter the country.
inside no 5Thailand has six land crossing with Cambodia – Ban Pakard/ Phsa Prum, Ban Laem/ Daun Lem, Chong Sa Ngam/ Anlong Veng, Chong Jom/ O Smach, Hat Lek/ Ko Kong and Aranyaprathet/ Poipet – and all are said to be affected, with local variations as to who can enter and who can not.
According to a visa service operator, quoted by AEC News the order to close the Thailand-Cambodia and Thailand-Myanmar border crossing was received late Friday.
