HO CHI MINH CITY Airport Corporation of Vietnam has submitted two outline options for Long Thanh International Airport’s first phase feasibility study.
Its recommendations have been submitted to the Ministry of Transport.
Local media reported the first feasibility study option would cost USD35.1 million and take 18 months to complete.
inside no 4The study would include data collection, field work, calculations of air traffic and distribution of capacity between Long Thanh and Tan Son Nhat airports, as well as the project’s scale and division of investment, financing schedule and valuation on refund possibilities.
The second option would cost USD6.9 million funded by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and will be carried out in 15 months.
ACV has also asked the transport ministry to allow it to organise competitive examinations to select the design for the airport’s terminal and air traffic control tower. At the same time, it will also select the contractor to prepare a feasible research report.
The airport project was approved by the National Assembly in June, this year. Once completed, the airport will be able to handle 100 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of freight a year.
The construction is scheduled to begin in 2019 with a completion date set for 2023.
The airport located in Long Thanh, Dong Nai province, is approximately 40 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
