HO CHI MINH CITY Passengers passing through Vietnam’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport will benefit from a simplified baggage scan procedure due to implemented 15 November.
Tuoi Tre News reported that the Ministry of Transport has called on the agencies monitoring security and customs to combine the baggage procedure to cut the processing time at the airport and streamline services for passengers.
Currently, the airport terminal requires passengers to have their carry-on and checked luggage scanned by two separate machines under the supervision of airport security and customs. This frequently leads to delays during peak hours.

The airport security and customs officers will operate one mutual luggage scanning section, reducing the amount of time passengers spend waiting for their baggage to be cleared, the report said.
Tan Son Nhat can handle up to 25 million passengers a year, and is slated to reach this threshold by the end of 2017. It handles around 22 million passengers a year at present.
