he Perak state government plans to include the Pangkor International Festival of Peoples' Poetry and Songs as one of their latest attractions in the state's tourism calendar.Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the festival would be listed in the tourism activity calendar as it would attract the tourists, particularly Malay literature enthusiasts, including those from outside the country.
"The festival, the first of its kind, will be a contribution by the state government to uplift the status of the Malay literature and culture. It will be able to assemble academicians, poets and peoples' song activists from regional countries who share similar language, art and culture," he told reporters here today after closing the International Pangkor Festival of Peoples' Poetry and Songs 2011.
Zambry said for a start, the two-day festival had succeeded in grouping together more than 50 activists in Malay literature and culture in the country as well as from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
